Electric Strikes are coupled with access control systems to allow entry through a locked door. Rather than the lock itself allowing entry, the strike releases the door latch allowing entry. Electric Strikes are installed within the doorframe replacing the standard latch keeper. Upon receiving a signal from an access control system, the electric strike releases the keeper allowing it to pivot. The operator then pushes (strikes) the door and the door opens, all without the need to unlock the lock. The keeper on the strike returns to the ‘keep’ position and the door becomes secure once more.
Electric Strikes are commonly used on intercom systems allowing visitors access inside the building once they have made themselves known. However, Electric Strikes are not limited to intercom systems, they can be used in many other situations, such as controlled access, re-entry, evacutaion routes, and general intrusion protection.
